  • 1 cup wild rice Takes about 30 minutes to cook.
  • 1 medium onion Chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 3 cups vegetable broth Add additional broth if needed for leftovers.
  • 1 teaspoon sage Adjust to taste
  • to taste salt Adjust to taste
  • to taste pepper Adjust to taste

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 cup Italian sausage Cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup diced apple Optional for sweetness
  • 1 cup additional vegetables e.g., asparagus, bell pepper, etc.
  • to taste old bay seasoning Optional for flavor
  • ½ cup toasted pepitas For topping

Cooking Instructions

  • In a large pot, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
