Baking Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream butter and sugar for 3-4 minutes until fluffy.

  • Gradually add flour and salt; mix on low until dough is soft but not sticky.
  • Divide dough and color half red with gel food coloring.
  • Roll 1 teaspoon of each color into 4-inch ropes, twist and curve into a cane.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden; cool for 5 minutes.
